In this workshop, you will learn about the four qualities that define how light looks to our eyes (and to the camera): intensity, color, direction and texture. We will discuss the moods and effects that different combinations of these qualities create in an image and how to find and create these qualities. We will have the opportunities to explore ordinary environments to find available light that is interesting. Students will also use hot lights and strobes, along with light modification tools such as reflectors, umbrellas, soft boxes, snoots, spots, gels, grids and flags to create lighting effects in the studio.
